Sorry for the incredible delay in adding to my blog but…my husband and I sold our home in San Diego and moved to Coos Bay, Oregon! As my hubby often says, you have to do something bizarre at least once in your life! This has to be our four or fifth bizarre and so far it’s been great!
Coos Bay is a small town of about 35,000 located on the southern coast of Oregon. It has everything a person could want; an airport, a mall, a hospital, great libraries, live theater, many fine restaurants, a small community college – what else could a person need? Best of all there are trees all over the place! We’ve only been here for a little over two weeks and have already seen deer three times. Today we saw two! Now, we’re renting a house in the city so I was amazed to see deer just standing there looking magnificent. Our rental house is located a half a block from a large forested park in the middle of the city – with three big lakes in the middle! Yes, it’s God’s country.
Never ones to waste time, my husband and I bought a house less than a week after moving here. We saw what we liked, the price was right so we got it. Why wait? We have a two-week escrow, so will be moving before the end of May. Now I have to go out and buy some new appliances for the place – what fun.
This past weekend we went to a art and wine tasting festival at the mall. There were eight wineries there and for a mere $5.00, you could taste wine from all of them – all you wanted. We really enjoyed ourselves and met many nice people and several dogs. Yup, the mall let’s you bring your dog inside. Gotta love Oregon. After a wee nap (too much tasting?) we went to a new Japanese restaurant in town. It was as good or better than any we tried in San Diego and we will certainly go back again – and soon.
Yesterday found us in the car with our two HUGE yellow Labs, driving down the coast a ways to a state park. There’s a wild life refuge with many, many seals and sea lions basking on the rocks. You can see them very well and certainly hear them barking! It’s a fun place to go and during certain times of the year, you an see whales pass by. We were amazed to see people swimming in the ocean, too! They are certainly hardier than me. Last week it hailed here – twice.
So, that’s my story and the beginning of a new adventure for me. Stay tuned and I’ll tell you all about it.
